WORD Racing takes 1st place in First Race with the New iKart!

iKart West Coast distributor WORD Racing Our debut with the brand new made-in-U.S.A. iKart Indianapolis chassis was a huge success!

Saturday the 7th was a test day at the track in Canby, Oregon, followed by a race on Sunday the 8th at the track in McMinnville, Oregon.

TEST DAY - The new iKart Indianapolis chassis was phenomenal right out of the box. The most important thing is good "turn-in", and the iKart delivered that with zero "understeer" and perfect steering - placing the kart exactly where we wanted it and nailing our apexes perfectly. There was some oversteer, but with so much adjustability it was no problem to fine tune the chassis. A couple more weeks of testing and this chassis will be a dominating force. Very impressive workmanship and a well-thought-out innovative design.

RACE DAY - Beautiful sunny weather greeted us Sunday morning. We left the house a little after 6:00 a.m. and arrived at the track around 7:30. With Ethan back in school for his Senior year, taking some advanced college courses, and working a job, the driving duties for Word Racing were left to Randy for this race. This also left us short handed in the pits, but Ethan's friend Daniel volunteered to help out - thank you Daniel!

Word Racing iKart Zamp The race was run in the reverse direction around the course! Having never done the reverse direction, it was quite a learning experience. Although, we had trouble learning 2 or 3 corners, we did well on the others and managed a decent time in qualifying - placing us on the front row in 2nd position. In the heat (pre-final) race, although the kart was handling well, we were still struggling to learn a couple of corners in the reverse direction and ended up falling back to 3rd place in a combined class field of eight drivers.

The main event saw one of our top competitors drop out with a mechanical issue, and also saw us turn more consistent lap times. We started to improve in some areas, and although we didn't nail down those problem corners, we know exactly what it is we need to work on to improve. Again the new kart performed flawlessly - and best of all we finished the main event in 1st place - both 1st place in class, and 1st place overall!

We are going to test some new settings this week and we are impressed with how the kart responds to adjustments. It is so exciting to see an American made product winning again in karting, for the first time in about 10 years. WORD Racing is honored to be a part of this and looking forward to the next race!
